DVD drive has locked closed

Have a Vaio A497XP, the DVD has locked shut, wont open, is there a means to reset to open?

If you look where the tray comes out you should see a pin hole near the button.
If you put a pin in there the door will open

How come the drive wont open normally? Is there something else i should do to reset? it was working fine, tho havent used for a couple of weeks.

Did you open it in Windows?
If so then this doesn't sound normal
