Hello,
Haven't had my shiney new Vaio VGN-A417S very long but loving it. Just wondered if anyone has any suggestions for cleaning the exterior and what are safe products to use on the screen ect.
Many Thanks.
Hi
Welcome to the forum.
The screen is the thing to watch. I'd use one of those little bits of material you get with spectacles and sunglasses, or a lint-free cloth and ever-so-slightly moisten it with a bit of screen spray. Alternatively you can use PC screen wipes.
As for the outside I'd just give it a wipe with a dampish cloth.
Enjoy your Vaio:smileyhappy:
I have had no problems with my PCG K215Z except cosmetic. The cleaning as the wise and brilliant TR points out involves moist quality cloths. However the qwerty keyboard key characters on my lappie have all but disappeared....worn off no less. In hindsight LOL I would have covered the keys with several layers of cling film or some computer shop laptop version of a keyboard cover that suits. I had a Toshiba Tecra before and the keys are as new as the day I bought it back in 1998 even without a cover. Its the main reason I may be going back to Toshiba for a Quosimo (whatever) as their LCD screens (5 lamp now) have caught up to the X Black ( maybe not in resolution) and they have 120g hard drive and the bloody key characters don't scratch off like a kiddies sweety packet.
Yeah I'm not too pleased with VAIO at the moment myself - my GRX is having that red screen issue when turning on, and I fear 3 years is going to be her maximum life, which is sad really, as I spent 2 years saving for her - and now I feel a bit disgruntled really.
I know 3 years is average, but I would expect better from a £1600 laptop.
Keep the VAIO clean but the keys will be the biggest problem
That's no good the 'Lo. It's giving you the red arse. I wanted to ask you as the worn off key issue means I likely won't get a buyer for my K series if it is worth getting the 2 year extended warranty pack and if I do get a buyer if it is transferable to the new owner? They are offering it for £154 which is whoooa £20 less than the same offer when I bought the Vaaiiiii Ooohhhh a year ago ( the first year is expiring in a couple of weeks)
I have no idea if it's transferable, I guess it's going to be a bit more difficult to sell it with the keys bieng greyed out
the letter "M" dissapeared on my old laptop:smileycry:
Count yourselves lucky. Could be worse......
Is that your keyboard TR?
No 'Lo that's a fujitsu - urgh!
Mine's just filthy. I guess there may be some lettering on top of my keys though. Must give it a clean and find out one of these days:smileylaugh:
