Hi,
I've recently purchased a Sony Vaio K115B.
I have Windows XP pro installed on the machine.
The DVD ROM drive and the memory stick drive will not read CD's / Memory Stick pro's when they are inserted. I have had a similar problem with another PC running XP Pro. and so I think it is XP causing the problems and not hardware.
When disks are inserted, and the drive is opened within explorer - I just get a blank window. Any ideas? Any help will be greatly appreciated - I'm really worried about my new laptop!!!!!!

Did you install Nero?
As for the memory stick, did you upgrade the firmware for the reader?
It can be found on VAIO-Link
Hi, thanks for the reply. No, I haven't installed Nero. I've updated the firmware on the CD-ROM (no luck here!) but can't find an update for the memory stick reader.
Did you upgrade the OS to XP Pro or was it preinstalled? If you have upgraded then I would guess that you haven't installed the drivers for the memory stick device.
Does the computer boot from the recovery disk? If it does then try deleting the drive from device manager and then reboot to allow the system to redetect it.
