CD DVD ReaderW riter

My machine is not reading either DVD or CD in the drive. What is the likely cause and remedy please?

If it's new I'd send it back to the retailer.

Outside warranty I'm afraid!!

Remove the drive in device manager then restart the computer to allow it to reinstall the drivers.

Then retry using the drive.
