If anyone can help i would be very grateful.........
I have tried everything but to no avail. I can't get any sound out of my vaio ar51m.
Nothing i can find is muted. The sound controller is working ok. The realtek sound meter shows there is sound there but nothing out the built in speakers.
Any ideas ??
cheers
Iain
Hi Iain and welcome to Club Vaio.
Have you updated the audio driver to 'SigmaTel Audio Driver 6.10.5614.0'? If not you can download the update here: -
http://support.vaio.sony.co.uk/downloads/updates/updates.asp?site=voe_en_GB_cons&c=0&s=VGN-AR&m=2876
The only other things to check are:-
1. Control Panel -> Audio. Are the Laptop Speakers set as the default sound output?
2. Can you hear sound if you connect a set of headphones? Inseting the headphone jack will disconnect the speakers and there may be a bad contact.
3. Try going to Control Panel -> Device Manager -> Sound, Video and Game Controllers. Right-click on the SigmaTel CODEC and choose 'Uninstall'. Reboot your Vaio to refresh the driver.
Thanks Blencogo........
For some reason the default audio had jumped to the realtek optical audio and not the sigma.
I will update the driver as well.
This is all new from my old vaio 502 but i hope it lasts just as long.
cheers again
Iain
