Booting from USB Floppy

I've got a K215Z with an external USB floppy drive attached but can't get it to boot from a floppy disk. I've checked the BIOS and floppy is there and listed above the hard drive so I would expect it to boot first with a bootable floppy disk in, but no joy. Any help would be appreciated.

not sure about this but do laptops recognise USB devices on boot up? that may be your problem..

SONY laptops require SONY FDD if you want to boot from it - bit sad I know
