Hi all!
New user and new to forum so forgive me if you have answered this question before.
I have a new FS295VP and I would like to know whether it would be better to remove the battery if I am running on mains. I ask this because someone said to me once that if you remove it , it would extend the life of the battery.
Thanks
Graz
It is best to remove the battery unless it is absolutely needed, otherwise you might find your laptop will conveniently over-charge it for you.
If you would rather leave the battery in all the time, then this is OK, but you should remove mains power and allow the battery to discharge each week IMHO its better this way.
Others might disagree...
Hmmm, I couldn't say much about this.
I keep the battery always in my VAIO. Since Years. And it's dying slowly.
The battery lost approx 20% of capacity. So, James may have right there.
But the other site is, what is better than a USV ? (or UPS for english users, LOL)
And my VAIO-Laptop is more than 2 years old. So, 10% less capacity per year. I think that is OK, if you buy a new laptop, all 3 years.
welcome to the CV.
james is right you should take your battery out unless it is needed and you should also charge it at least once a week as james said (but i read some where its once a month) if you leave it out
I agree with James, but if the power's dodgy in your area then keep it in as it will act as a UPS
