I have a Vaio SZ3 with built-in microphone and speakers. I recently had to adjust various audio settings in order to use a headset with Skype. Now I get awful, screaming audio feedback from the built-in speakers when I have no audio devices plugged in, unless I turn the volume control of the speakers all the way down. When I touch the built-in mike lightly with a finger, I hear the sound clearly through the speakers. It's as if there is now a direct connection between the mike and the speakers. I can't find out what I did wrong, and I can't work out how to get back. I never had this feedback before installing the headset.
Can anyone help??
Thanks a lot.
You need to mute the microphone in the mixer:
In the system tray click on the icon with the speaker, and then find the microphone - mute this, the mic will still work you just won't hear it.
WOW Brilliant, instant success!!! Thanks a lot!
(but it's not very intuitive, is it? I saw the option but thought muting the microphone would turn it off!)
Again, thanks.
No problem
If you go to the recording options in the mixer, then you can turn off the mic completly.
