Dear Forum/Engineers/Sony Experts,
Recently my hard drive on the A215M died, out of warranty, in Northern Brazil. It was a 60GB hard drive and I am considering replacing it with a 100GB drive. I am wondering if anyone out there could give me some advice and details on exactly what criteria I should be following in order to choose the correct and appropriate drive to put into the notebook.
If there is any criteria that involve noise & speed , I would really like to know of them, as those are two important things for me. Otherwise just simply what is it that I am looking for, any particular brand, size, speed, etc, would be really useful as I have absolutely no idea.
Many thanks for your help.

Hi bomba,
Any modern 2.5 inch ATA drive will work - you can get these up to 160GB these days. The 7,200 rpm drives are the quickest but do tend to be a bit noisy - most people find a 5,400 rpm drive a good compromise between speed and noise.
Try a Google for Seagate Momentus or Hitachi Travelstar - these are two of the most popular drives.
Dear Blencogo
Many thanks for advice, will see what I can do. Supplies are short in this part of the world... (Belém, Mouth of the Amazon)

Good luck Bomba.
Some Sony parts are pretty scarce in the UK too!
Watch out for the Pirranah!
