Video Format Old TV's
Hi there,
My client is using old KDL-40EX401 Video TV's for fast food menus. They were running stills but we have animated the menu.
We have given them Mpeg and Mpeg 4 files. None of these work.
The error we receive is video resolution not supported.
Do you have any advice for us?
Kind regards
Brendan

If you haven't already done so, all I can suggest is you consult the Specifications or Operating Manual. Maximum resolution for MPEG4 is 1080 x 1920.

Hi @BrendanCooney, have a look at the supported formats for each port here: https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/res/manuals/4168/41681481M.pdf page 15, maybe you can also try a different connection method.

What resolution are the mpegs you are supplying, and what is the delivery method?
e.g. USB stick or what?
Anything up to 1080i should be fine via any input, but 1080p is only via HDMI or Component In:-

Can you ensure the frame rate isn’t 24p and the resolution is no higher than 1080i?
My next step, if still no go, would be to get out my little media box, plug the USB stick into it, and play it out over HDMI into one of these TVs.
Not a production solution, of course, but might provide a few pointers as to what is happening.
