Red standby LED flashing 8 times - (KDL-32EX723)

Hi there,

I bought the KDL-32EX723 model in April of this year (2011).

After watching TV last night, I put the TV in to standby mode.

This morning, I switched the TV on by pressing the standby button but the TV did nothing beyond the SONY welcome message.  i.e.  it didn't display an input source, the screen stayed black.

If I try to swtich the TV on now, it reboots after showing the SONY welcome message (up to 4 times) then shuts down in to standby mode and shows the red standby LED flashing 8 times.

Do Sony have a published troubleshooting list of what the various stages of flashing standby LED mean?

Can anyone advise what type of error the red standby LED flashing 8 times refers to?

I'm curious to know whether it's a software or hardware fault to gauge an idea of whether the TV will have to be taken away for more serious repair.

Many thanks.

Hi,

yes your tv will have to be taken away for repair as its a fault within the tv.

my understanding is its the T8005 transformer or associative components in the high voltage circuits,

too technical for my liking!
