Need to provide some more details - can you confirm your model, ISP, type of connection, version of firmware and steps taken to get the device connected?

thanks

The TV is Sony Bravia 40 inch  KDL40EX723. I bought a Sony dongle (UWA BR100) with the TV from J.Lewis. THe ISP is Virgin Media, I am coonecting via WiFi.

I can connect to the TV but the spped is so slow as to be unworkable. A laptop used in the same room works perfectly and I can watch iPlayer, youtube very well.

Appreciate any advice.

Thanks

Ah I think its the old Virgin Media issue - try the below fix. This is a problem that seems to be unique to Virgin Media for some reason.

Select the following under Network Settings, Internet Settings;

1. Wired or Wireless setup

2. Custom

3. IP Auto

4. DNS Auto

5. Proxy Server - Yes

6. Proxy Server = webcache.virginmedia.com

7. Port = 8080

Do post back if it works..

thanks

Hi there

I have the same problem.  I have bought the same model TV and the dongle but cannot connect to the internet.  At the connection results I get:

Wireless Device on TV = found

Local Access = Failed

Internet Access = Failed

I also have Virgin broadband and have tried your settings above but no luck!

Can you think of something else please?

Ready to tear my hair out!!!

The Virgin Media issue is seperate to getting connected to the web. I'd try turning your wi-fi security off and trying again. Bear in mind wep/wpa passwords are case sensitive so need to take care when setting up.

If that fails - checkout this thread here which migt help as an alternative..
