KDL-22BX20D tv guide unstable

Over the years I have had numerous Sony products including a number of TV's, and have always been pleased with their performance.

However, one TV, a KDL-22BX20D, has been nothing but trouble with the onscreen TV guide. One minute the guide displays the correct tv schedule for all channels, the next the schedule is completely mixed up, with both times and titles of programmes incorrect, and even one channel info mixed onto a different channel. I've tried updating the firmware from Sony but to no avail.

Would appreciate any advice to correct this problem.

Hi Ian,

Are you referring to the Digital Guide or the Satellite one?

A basic thing to try would be to unplug the cable, tune the channels without it (the TV won't find anything), then repeat the process with the cable plugged in to refresh the system.

Thanks for your reply. The problem is with the digital guide (which I assume
is received via the terestial antena). The tv has done this virtually since
purchase.
I've attached some screen shots taken this evening which show the problem.
IMG_0640.jpg shows the tv guide for channel BBC1, which is correct. With the
tv still tuned to BBC1 the guide is scrolled to a different channel and now
shows incorrect information (as shown in IMG_0641). This is typical of what
is displayed and is totally unreliable.

Hi ian,

I think the program information section only displays the details of the highlighted channel, so it's normal for the list to change as you scroll through.

If you press the right arrow, then scroll up and down you should be able to get the guide info for the selected channel without tuning to it

The info above the table (next to the mini preview window) appears to always show the first program on each list ( so Eastenders, Cheers and Access respectively).

I don't think there's a problem with it.

The guide is demonstrated on page 16 of the manual here:

Thanks for your reply, but I think you missed the issue.

The first photo posted shows the tv tuned to BBC1 at around 8:20pm, and the programme list for that channel is correct.

The second and third photos show the tv still tuned to BBC1, but the tv guide has been scrolled to Channel 4 and Channel 5 respectively. If you look at the programme listings they show incorrect times (one shows incorrect programmes from 6:30am, the second incorrect programmes from 00:05am).

The point being that if, at 8:20pm, I choose to see what programmes are currently being broadcast on a different channel to the one the tv is tuned to, the tv guide should show what's currently being broadcast at 8:20pm and subsequent programmes, not what's on tomorrow on a different channel.

Hi @ianmarr79

I’m afraid that you may have to accept that your 2010 vintage TV is past it’s sell by date with the last update being issued in 2011. You could always try Sony UK Support  but I suspect that will be wasting your time.
