Internet TV and YouTube HD content

YouTube has nowadays quite a lot of content available in HD format and when playing these on a PC, it' possible to choose the HD (720p) format version.

However, when playing these same videos with the Internet TV in the Bravia TV set (at least HX803),
the TV set seems to play only the SD version (480p?)  of the video.

This is quite unfortunate as e.g. on a 46 inch TV set, it would really be desirable to view the HD version.

Why is this and can this be expected to be fixed in some software update?

I think its limited for some reason, not quite sure. I can check and see if there is an update planned to allow playback of higher resolutions as I agree it would be better!

Any news on this yet? I'd love to see firmware update which enables HD on Youtube. I have KDL-40HX800 and hopefully Sony is still working on updates for this model..

Indeed, I think its still on the cards - and yes it would be an update for all devices as far as I'm aware.

No idea of timeframe at the moment I'm afraid, but hopefully won't be too far off..

I have 46EX710 and i wish i havnt baught it  ! ! !

SONY is not giving answers to problems  -  this is only one example . . .
