Demo mode loop fault

(Starting a new post as my reply on a similar question has not been picked up)

My 2009 Sony KDL40W5500 keeps reverting to demo mode. I have uploaded the current firmware for this model from your site, and done a factory re-set multiple times, but the problem keeps coming back. Started a month ago intermittently and now TV won't run for more than an hour after a reset before going into demo mode. The remote (fresh batteries) and side button controls do not work when the fault develops and there is also a continuously flashing green LED at these times. Your article (in the other post) does not address my problem.  What if any fix is there for this please?  Does Sony intend to release new firmware to deal with this?  Is there a maintenance part or repair required?

Hi, I guess in the setup process you missed selecting Home, check this link:https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/support/articles/00008303

No, I didn't forget to select 'home' in the setup process!  Loop mode comes on spontaneously and randomly, even after a reset.  But thank you for the helpful link, I'll try this 10 s key press next time loop mode comes back.

I would say to check this with an engineer to see if it can be repaired? Sony has a locator tool you can use;
UK locator: https://locator.sony/en_GB/servicecenters and one for Ireland: https://locator.sony/en_IE/servicecenters

That doesn't seem to be very good advice!  If Sony can't diagnose the issue or point to a potential faulty part, how is a local engineer going to do better?

Hi PhilB7, the link above is to direct you to Sony engineers for a repair service since our advice is not helping. Who's better than Sony engineers then? Did you try to contact their support directly?
