Can't get a full screen image when I connect my laptop to my Sony TV !!!

When connecting my Sony laptop(VGN-NW20EF) with a 15 pin cable to my Sony TV, I don't get a full screen image. What am I doing wrong. HELP. thanks.

If you are running Windows 7 on your lappy go to control panel-Appearance and personalisation-Adjust screen resolution you should be able to set it to auto detect and that should do it.
