Bravia KDL46EX503 DLNA Issue

Hi, I'm trying to work through this my self but not getting very far at the moment, i have the above TV which boasts the ability to play AVCHD files, So i've got it on the network and it see's my DLNA server, it can play all the music off of it and it can see all my photo's without issue, but playing films off of it i am struggling with;

It see's the file, presents its name, length etc. but when i try to play the file i recieve "Playback Not Available." and the best i was able to get out of Sony phone support was, put the file on USB and see if it can play it then - helpful.

Is anyone else having this problem / have a solution for it. Could it be due to the limitation of file types etc on the device, i know the  PS3 will not play DTS Audio, is it anything like this?

Thanks

I'd try changing DLNA servers as thats kind of the point of them, in that they transcode anything you throw at them to a usable format. Give Serviio a go (free etc) as it has specific profiles for BRAVIA.

Thanks

Hey, i don't really want to do this as it involves having a computer on 24/7 incase i want to watch a movie, the DLNA server im using is running off a NAS and every other device on the network can play the files on it fine.

With the TV specification saying it could play AVCHD (natively) i didnt expect this would be a problem

Hi it all depends on the Bit rate, Codec and structure, there are many types of AVCHD file, Sony products normally work with VC1, and a specific resolution as found in the camcorder range.  However if the cant see the file it would indicate it is in a format it does not support, most NAS systems will have a server program that transcodes the files, ensure this is also doing the correct format, hope this helps
