New contribution

Just received a badge for my '1th' contribution to the forum. So that works about as well as the Alexa connection on my £2.5k Sony TV.

Hi there,

Welcome to the Sony Community.

Sorry to hear you're having issues. Can you let me know the model number of your TV that you are experiencing issues with?

Best wishes,

Sean Mc

Hi Sean,

Sure. I'm using a year-old Bravia KD-5A1.

Hi GreatBigBadger

Perhaps we can help. What happens when you try using Alexa?

Many commands work. Alexa responds to commands to turn the TV on and off, to change volume, even to change channel up or down, one at a time. However, she responds with 'That command doesn't work on device TV' when asked to change to a specific channel by name or number, with commands like 'Change channel to BBC 1 on TV' or 'Change channel to 17 on TV'.

Hi there,

Have you tried refreshing the Alexa app? You can do so by going to Settings - Apps - Alexa - Storage - Clear data.

Let us know how it goes.

Reluctant to do that, as it appears it will clear all of the settings and scripts I've created for other devices controlled by Alexa. Is there not a way of checking I have the latest version of the Sony Alexa app, first?

Hi,

You can check for updates by going to the Play Store and searching for the app, you will have the option to update if possible, or to open the app if it's already up to date.
