Dear members of the Sony Community,
We have the following issue: We have two portable Sony video cameras, bought back in 2012 and 2013 approximately. Then, because my wife is a left-hander, we bought a Sony active tripod model GP-AVT1, which is mighty useful for a number of reasons, not only that is useful for left-handers. It provides stability of holding, angle of shooting adjustable, still positioning of the camera, etc. The thing is that the cable of the tripod started disconnecting due to the intensive use and storage together with the cameras. Then, we decided to buy a new one, it appeared these tripods were no longer in produce and sale, and furthermore, Sony have replaced the type of plug these tripods / cameras use to get connected, so all the new tripods are equipped with the new type of plug. Nowhere in the internet we can found to buy the old tripod type. I am unable to find also a cable adapter so that we buy a new tripod and adapt its plug to the plug available in the old cameras. I only see cable adapting old tripod to a new camera, but not vice versa. In the same time we love our old cameras, they work perfectly, the one I use is high-end 3D camera with GPS, video-light, manual focus camera worth 1500 euro, when it was first issue and I just do want to replace it with a new one. Can you help me finding a working solution, either by finding a cable adapter, so we can buy a new tripod and adapt it to our old cameras, or buy an old fashion new tripod. Or by any other ideas?
Thank you in advance!
Hello @ChavdarNikolov,
how old is the tripod remote you're using? Sony has switched to the MULTI protocoll for controlling cameras for at least 15 years if I'm not mistaken (it is the plug that has the shape of micro USB but goes deeper where it has additional contacts to expand on the micro-USB standard).
You can try and find out what the plug on your old remote is called and if you can adapt MULTI to it - first I would verify though whether the plug or the port on the camera has broken.

Thank you for your reply. None of my cameras are that old. They were bought back in years 2012-2013. And they are with the old format. I cannot find a spare tripod or replacement option yet.

No, I haven't. I am still looking for a solution.
