Just bought my XBR65X900E and I was trying to change to a custom DNS.
So I go into Network, go through all the options, change to static IP, skip through to DNS, put in my numbers and confirm.
After that the TV will not connect to the internet anymore.
Once I switch to DHCP, all is fine, but here I cannot change the DNS.
Any ideas?
THX!
Most likely you have given an IP address that's out of your LAN subnet (usually 192.168.1.x. But some have 192.168.0.x. Or 10.0.0.x) or you have assigned an IP address that belongs to another host already. Also there may be the issue that your router is managing only half of a subnet.
What you should do is use DHCP, check the IP address assigned by the router, and then switch to static assigning the same IP address. That should work. Or just to be safe, if it is something like 192.168.1.15 (or with the last number that's any number between 2-99) you may add 100 and test (192.168.1.15 become 192.168.1.115). DHCP usually assigns the IP address sequentially, so giving an high number should avoid conflict.
