Hi
Recently bought a LA-EA2 and would love to use this in combination with my Xi lenses.
I see that both these and teleconvertors are not supported.
Is there any posibility of these being "allowed" in future. Please voice this customer request to those in charge.
Even if this is like my 7000i in that the powerzoom doesn't fuction but that the AutoFocus works.
Does anyone know of any tecnical reason why this couldn't be allowed.
On the positive side this will enable a greater selection of Lens to the ever growing NEX range.
Kind regards
Stephen

Hi RON777, welcome to the Sony Forums
If yours is a recent Sigma 18-250 a-mount it should work fine with the EA2. Older versions of the lens may need some modification, although I'm not sure what that involves, or what it might cost. If you contact Sigma they should be able to advise.
It's also worth remembering that the NEX-3 requires the latest firmware update to work with the EA2: http://www.sony.co.uk/support/en/product/NEX-3/updates

Hi Stephen
I suspect the additional contacts used on the xi's unusual auto-zoom lenses might be a physical restriction on the LA-EA2, but you also have to look at the work needed to develop firmware for what is after all an obsolete and quite 'niche' lens system.
When you consider the only thing that differentiates the xi's mount from other older Minolta lenses, which do work with the EA2, that auto-zoom contact arrangement strikes me as the primary reason they've been excluded.
It's just my opinion of course, but it does seem unlikely that compatibility might be as simple as a firmware update, less still that Sony would develop for such 'niche' feature.
