Alpha A300 Will not detect Compact Flash

Just wondered if anybody had any ideas i am looking to buy a alpha a300 camera however there is a fault where the camera will now not see a memory card inserted in the camera. the camera was in a bag and taken out to take a photo when it was turned on the card was not detected i think it is a firmware fault. anyboday have any ideas?

I have not heard of any firmware problems with this model.

Have you tried: -

1. Removing the battery and reinserting it after about a minute?

2. Removing and reinserting the memory card to check the contacts?

3. Using another card to see if this works?

4. Reformatting the memory card?

5. Resetting the camera to default settings? Page 124 of the manual.

just wondered if it was the worst fear of a faulty board

It sounds like you need to contact your local Sony distributor or Service Centre.
