Hello Angelacox15 - welcome to the Sony Forums

Without seeing the actual charger that you have purchased, it is slightly more difficult to advise whether it is safe to use it or not. Having said that, a 'stiffness' could indicate that either a) the charger simply isn't compatible or b) that the charger is of a poor quality and that the design is incorrect. Do you have a product number printed on the charger or the original link that you used to purchase the item from the USA?

In either case, using a charger that isn't recommended could invalid the manufacturer's warranty if it is within 12 months of purchase.

Thanks,

Simon

Hi thanks for replying. It's not the actual charger that I'm concerned about its how to plug it in in the uk. They have sent a three pin adapter this is what I'm asking about?? I purchased it from www.slrhut.co.uk

It is stiff putting the two pin charger into the three pin adapter.

Hello again

I understand now that you are referring to the 'travel' adapter which will allow you to use a regular UK power socket with your charger. These can often be a little stiff when inserting the foreign plug.

This will make the charger usable in the UK but I have to stress that you are doing so at your own risk. Having said that, if the online shop has informed you that everything is compatible then you shouldn't have a problem but as you can imagine, I cannot guarantee this either way. All I can advise you is that foreign plug adapters are often stiff when inserting the two-pin plug as I have had this myself on my travels.

Thanks,

Simon
