My Vaio VGN-A195EP has suddenly gone dramatically slow on boot & whenever I click on an icon (2 mins to open windows explorer). I had a similar issue 10 months ago & was advised by Sony to reformat the c:drive which appeared to help. Can anyone advise how to do this as I have completely forgotten

Thanks for the advice - does this sound like a feasible repair for this problem - don't really like being so drastic.

OK - I saw there was nothing else to do, the pc was crashing even in Safe mode - I ran the recovery disk for C: to retain the data on 😧 but it wouldn't write windows back onto the disc - guess the disc is broke - are these easily replaceable? I'd prefer to do it myself to avoid delays sending it off.
