I have just run my recovery disk through my notebook and I have an error message that reads "can not find hard drive" "Confirm if hard drive is correctly connected"
i ran the recovery disk because when I turned the note book on I had a message that read "can not find the operating system"
I have never opened the back of the machine so the hard drive has never been disconnected and I do not use the note book as a portable pc so it is not knocked about.
Has the note book reached the end of its working life?
Any help will be welcome as all my wifes work is stored on it.

Sounds like the hard drive or its controller had packed up. You could try removing the drive and connecting it via a USB adapter to a working computer to see if it works.

If it does then at least you will be able to recover your files.
