The problem is that the laptop intermittently, could be 5 minute, could be 30 minutes, will stutter, the screen goes black for 2 to 5 seconds and any sound playing at the time will loop the current soundcard’s buffer like a stuck record. When the screen comes back the sound continues from where it left off and I can continue to use window.

This seems to happen at random and doesn’t seem to be linked to any one piece of software I am using; also the laptop has been freezing completely and not coming back to windows in the same style.

I have formatted and run the recovery disc but the problem persists.

any ideas?

thanks

Matt

Hi Matt and welcome to Club Vaio.

I would check to see if your Vaio is overheating as this is a possible cause.

Download Mobilemeter and check your CPU temperature to see if your processor is shutting down due to excess temperatures.

If you let us know what temperature your CPU runs at under load we may be able to offer some advice.
