hi, i hope someone can help i have a vgn-a297xp that had xp pro installed, i have now installed vista premium using the windows installation disc it works okay but now some things will not work like the dvd tray opener or the screen brightness button i have the two viao installation discs do i need to use these to get the sony parts back regards john

Hi jonmerc,

You need to install the Vista Drivers and Utilities. You will find these on the download page for your model here: -

You will need to install the following to get the Fn keys to work. They must be installed IN ORDER:

1. Sony Utils DLL
2. Sony Shared Library
3. Setting Utilities Series
4. Vaio Event Service

You may like to install other downloads on this page like the Wireless Switch Setting Utility for WiFi etc.

hi i have installed the drivers in the order you suggested but the fn key will not work nor will the screen brightener button regards jomo

It is the only way to get the Fn Keys to work.

Try it more than once if necessary.
