error message

anyone help with this error message. symtoms include internet connection ending for no apparent reason, slow loading pages. and the following message is the only one..
'error loading hnetwiz.dll a dynamic link library (DLL) initialization routine failed.

I have done a search and found the filewhich looks like it is in the right place. any suggestions.

Hi Wessley,

Looks like your Vaio is trying to load the "Small Network Setup Wizard" - not sure if this is normal or not, so a full virus scan, spyware scan and a check that your firewall is on would seem a sensible precaution.

It could be normal (I haven't a clue). See if the wizard runs manually: -

Start>Control Panel>Network Connections

Under Network Tasks, you should see "Set up a home or small office network". Click on it and see if the wizard opens. If it does, I don't have a clue what's going on!

However, if you get the same error message check that its dependencies are present and correct: -

C:\Windows\system32\atl.dll
C:\Windows\system32\netshell.dll
C:\Windows\system32\netcfgx.dll
C:\Windows\system32\netman.dll

If you get the error message and all these appear to be OK, come back here and we can try re-registering these .DLLs
