Alpha 580 & Eye-Fi slow to start

Hi,

What is the normal startup time for the a580? Mine takes some 4-5 sec before you can actually start to shoot - it won't respond to the shutter button and the screen stays black. This happens at power-on and when the camera comes back from sleep.

Can't find this in the manual or any of the online reviews so it may be a feature, not a fault. It's just irritating compared to my a200 and a350 which allow immediate shooting.

Replying to myself. I've since found out that the problem relates to the Eye-Fi Pro card I'm using. Even though the A580 is Eye-Fi compatible, it seems to suffer from some problems. Also, a DPReview discussion indicates that the A55 has similar problems - it also freezes almost every time the camera powers on, or comes back from sleep.

Eye-Fi have responded that this problem relates to the way Sony initializes, as similar problems do not occur with other camera makes. Perhaps this is an idea for future firmware updates?
