3d model of phone or case

Hey,

I am having a friend look at making some 3d printed cases. Does anyone have or have access to a 3d model of the xperia 1, or a 3d model of a case for the handset? Preferably in .obj format (whatever that means).

Dropbox it to me here if you do. Any results we get will be made available via shapeways, at cost price.

Not that I think you're going to get an accurate 3d model of the X1 on here, but surely 3D printing a case will be far more expensive than the ones you can buy off 3rd party sellers..

Yes, 3d printing will almost always end up more expensive than mass production. I am looking at building something specifically customised, as mentioned in another thread. Quality, rather than price, would seem more important, for this project.

I'm looking into getting a 3D printer and I'd certainly be making my own case (and other filmaking accessories) to allow for an ND filter rather than the one I cobbled together!

We will keep you updated and share any progress here. Great work on your solution. Good to have a working solution.

I use the beastgrip for the tripod, so can use 37mm filters on that. But for the gimble, the solutions offered look great.

If we get a nice printed case, it will ease the way for others too.
