How to setup a personal hotspot

When you don’t have access to a Wi-Fi network or you only have access to an insecure public WiFi network, you can easily convert your smartphone into a personal hotspot and share its mobile data connection with other devices (e.g. smartphone, laptop, cellular tablet)

When you setup your hotspot and connect your computer to the WiFi network of your Xperia phone you will have a secure connection where no-one can steal your data.

Sony support has created a webpage with instructions how to setup a hotspot on your Xperia phone.

The hotspot setting was formerly one of the settings in the quick settings menu.

(the menu shown when sliding down with one finger from the top of the screen)

Google has removed the hotspot quick setting somewhere mid 2019.

You can restore this setting for yourself by following these steps. (a workaround)

Long press on your home screen
Choose widgets
Scroll down to Settings
Press and hold the symbol
Choose the hotspot settings shortcut

You'll find out that there are more settings of which you can create a shortcut on your homescreen.
