C3 does but that's changing the colour overlay. It looks like Sony implemented an auto contrast in their GPU and prevented users from disabling the setting for whatever reason.

Ref: Dynamic Luminance Scaling

First question, if I lived say in Malaysia and the latest firmware provided is only up to KitKat, how does one do a PCC fix if they are on Lollipop? Did Malaysia refuse to bring in Lollipop even though they can do an OTA update?

Second, how do I stop the screen backlight from dimming in differently coloured pictures? It's different from the brightness settings, that's all I know.

Edit: Looks like Sony done messed up. Good job guys.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2531191

Edit2: McGyver solution down there

Edit3: PM me if you want a solution for rooted phones.

Hi @AutumChris

1. The update will first need to be authorised by your network or country before Sony is authorised to release it to your device. Also operator locked phones takes much longer that other phones to receive their updates because they have to be extensively verified by the carrier before release. Please, check these links for more information:
http://blogs.sonymobile.com/
http://blogs.sonymobile.com/category/software-upgrades-2/
http://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/FAQ/The-software-update-collection-topic/m-p/348066#U348066

2. From your Home screen

- Tap the Application screen icon.
- Find and tap Settings -> Apps.
- Swipe to the All tab.
- Find and tap on Xperia Home (will reset home screen to default settings widgets/shortcuts).Tap Force stop -> Clear data.
- Restart the phone.

I´m at disposal for any question.

I'm a bit confused on your second question, are you referring to

<STRIKE>Settings > display > bravia engine? </STRIKE>my bad, the C3 does not have Bravia Engine

Ehh, it's like a weaker version of the adaptive brightness? Except that it seems to not rely on light sensors but rather the screen display itself. Much like how different colours appear to change the light intensity

Hi @AutumChris

Please, first run a backup of the device information as explained here. Then perform a system repair using PC Companion or Bridge for MAC. This will factory reset your phone and erase all data. You might need to charge your device for about 1-2 hours before so the device has at least 80% battery. Make sure the device is not connected to computer or laptop and turned off until you are
prompted (sometimes you have to press power button and volume up until the device vibrates 3 times or on some devices you have to press the small button near the SIM tray or on the back of the device). Start PC Companion -> Support zone -> Update my phone/tablet -> Blue Repair my phone/tablet -> follow instructions. When prompted connect your phone still switched off holding volume down or back button. The repair or reformat process will start. If you are using Windows 8/8.1 or a 64 bit operating system adjust settings for PC Companion and run in compatibility mode -> chose Windows 7 or XP. I´m at disposal for any question.

I'm from Malaysia, latest supported firmware on PC: KitKat

Current version: 5.0

Impossible to do a repair, I tried. And this has something to do NOT with adaptive brightness but the way the light balance auto contrasts with what is being shown on-screen. You can disable this on the Galaxy Note 1, I remember this feature but the Xperia doesn't seem to have it or is it hidden somewhere?

And I don't recommend constantly doing PCC repairs for something as simple as 'unable to find setting' especially when you can't pinpoint the exact matter.

Other Xperias have white balance, under Settings > display > white balance but I don't think the C3 has it
