AG9 and STR-DN1080 remote issue

When i turn HDMI control on for my TV to wake the receiver, the tv comes up with a message saying error and reverts the speakers to the tv ones from the receiver. Any ideas please ? Anyone else got this working ? AG9 TV and STR-DN1080 Receiver

Are you sure you connected the AVR to the arc port of the TV? If you cannot switch on the bravia sync also arc won't work so how do you hear the sound from the AVR?

Yes definitely connected to the arc port on the tv

the Bravia sync on the tv is on

only happens when I turn control hdmi on on the receiver

Understood, but if HDMI control (CEC) is not enabled also on the AVR, HDMI ARC does not get enabled... so have you ever succeeded to hear anything from it? Or do you have also an optical cable connecting TV &AVR?

Yes, get Dolby digital and other outputs from the receiver depending on source no problem.

Ive got HDMI from sky box to tv for pictures, and hdmi from tv to receiver for sound. Works perfectly (tv set to av receiver for sound) until i try to use the tv remote for the receiver by turning “control for HDMI” to on. Please see pic as to set up at present

AFAIK arc should not work if bravia sync (AKA HDMI CEC) is not enabled. In any case another disturbing variable could be the sky box, try disconnecting its own HDMI cable

Hi Lisapc1701, I noticed that the control for HDMI on the receiver is off, did you try turning it on? Also, did you try unplugging the TV from the mains and disconnecting all the leads?

Hi, I had to turn the control for hdmi to off else the tv would turn off the surround speakers and only use the tv speaker

tried unplugging everything and playing with the cables

i guess the tv and receiver aren’t compatible when a sky q box is also imvolved

very frustrating

It's not the TV and receiver that aren't compatible, most probably is skyq that is interfering. I already suggested to check some times ago to try the setup without it. If it works you just have to buy a HDMI cecless cable for it

Yes i agree with roobb, try this setup without the skybox, it maybe the issue here.
