When I see a Netflix show with Dolby Vision, my heart sinks!

Dark scenes are almost unwatchable, and the colour drained from the picture.

Does anyone have the same issues and has found a solution?

Hi,

Is your TV running the latest software?

If the picture is too dark you might have to change the brightness level or select a different colour profile.

Cheers
Peter

Thank you for your responses and apologies for the delay in replying.

I'm watching Netflix on a Sony 55" XF9005 series.

When I select Action Menu then picture, I just have Dolby Vision.

The brightness is set to max and colour is 50.

I am running the latest software but Netflix shows in Dolby Vision have always been this way,

This is a long standing issues with Dolby vision when played back from an external source - eg: playstation or AppleTV being examples.

It can however be corrected by going into the advanced picture settings and increasing the 'Gamma' setting to 1 or 2 . This improved the picture considerably.

Sony should be able to tell you this and it is covered else where on the internet - Be careful if you upgrade to Android Pie on some Sony TV's as it breaks the HDMI-CEC functionality..... 6 months down the line and although they know about it, they still haven't issues a patch to fix it.

If so, does it affect the issue you were having in any way?
