Where can I find the driver for my Motion Eye device?

Hi Tommy,

In Messenger and Skype have you checked that the Sony Visual Communications Camera is set as the default device as opposed to USB Video Device?

Yes I have.

When I search driver after hardware Ids, all I can find is HP Webcam driver

Have you tried my earlier suggestion?

“If the camera is not functioning then uninstall both the unknown device and the "Sony Visual Communication Camera VGP-VCC6" and reboot. Hopefully you will then have either "Sony Visual Communication Camera VGP-VCC6" or one unknown device. If the latter then update the driver using the ‘Have Disk’ option above and point the installer to R5U870FL.inf.”

I tried it, i uninstalled it in safe mode and reboot.

After reboot I opened the device manager and then i have one USB Video Device under ImageDevices

and an unknown Device under Other Devices

I Removed the Unknown Device in Other Device and updated the driver for USB Video device to Sony Visual Communication

With no luck

Quite honestly I am at a loss as to what the problem is here.

Unless anyone else has any suggestions all I can suggest is that if you still have the Sony Visual Communications Camera listed under imaging devices, and the unknown device has an almost similar hardware ID, you try updating the driver for this unknown device using the Have Disk method pointing the installer to R5U870FL.inf.

If that fails then use your recovery disks to return the machine to factory defaults. If you don’t have the original recovery media you will need to purchase a set from Support.

Just a thought, but I don’t suppose there is anything listed in Control Panel that refers to an HP imaging device?

Thanks for your help.

I will order recovery disc from Sony.

The Unknown Device returned Error Code 10

Thanks for now

One last thing you could try before resorting to the recovery disks is to do a system restore to a date of a few days ago.

If the unknown device then disappears and you are left with one device with the hardware ID of USB\VID_05CA&PID_1870&REV_0100 Then update the driver using the Have Disk option.

Thanks for your help Rich

I have found something maybe you can see if its correct or whats wrong.

In the Universal Serial Bus Controllers i have a USB Composite Device with hardwareIds:

USB\VID_05CA&PID_1870&REV_0100

USB\VID_05CA&PID_1870

In the Other Devices i have Unknown Device with hardware Ids:

USB\VID_05CA&PID_1870&REV_0100&MI_02

USB\VID_05CA&PID_1870&MI_02

And the last on in Image Device the Sony Visual Communication ... with hardware Ids:

USB\VID_05CA&PID_1870&REV_0100&MI_00

USB\VID_05CA&PID_1870&MI_00
