UNKNOWN DEVICE PROBLEMS

Everytime I connect my pocket vaio to the computer it displays "unknown device"

The computer will find it after about three attempts of sticking it in and out of the cradle.

Looked for a driver on my vaio disk, but cannot locate it.

I am running, WinXP SP2 - have put on all sonic stage updates and firmware for pocket v.

Can anyone suggest how I can get my computer to recognise the *****ng thing!

how computer literate are you? if you're reasonably competent then i'd suggest going to device manager (right click on my computer, propeties, hardware tab, device manager) and check for any hardware items that aren't functioning properly and see if you can get them working. i had a similar problem with mine earlier today, the usb card had a driver malfunction so i removed it (from device manager, press delete or right click and select remove) and it then did the auto install thing (you may have to click on scan for hardware changes). try looking under disk drives to see if your vp is listed and working correctly. DON'T just remove any disk drives from there, one (at least) will beyour hard disk!
