How to access the BIOS for a SVE1712Z1EB

I need to access the BIOS of a SVE1712ZEB. I tried to follow the Vaio Care Help (got to Advanced Tools then Restore and Recovery then select boot to BIOS). The boot to BIOS option is not available. I have tried the usual F keys to boot to BIOS but none of them work. I need to turn on Hyper-V Platform and I can only do that in the BIOS. Does anyone know how to boot to the BIOS?

Hi acid_jazz,

I have no experience of Windows 8 on a Vaio but I believe you need to press the Assist button when the notebook is fully shut down. This should then display the following screen.

Like Rich, I have no experience of Windows 8.  Try the solution above first but if it does not work try opening it through Windows 8 rather than Vaio Care.

I think your model has the new UEFI Bios.  Try this: -

On the Start screen pick 'Settings'

Select 'General' in the left column

Click on 'Restart Now' under the 'Advanced Startup' option (this will restart the Vaio into the Boot Menu)

When in the Boot Menu, click on the 'Troubleshoot' icon then 'Advanced Settings'

Select 'UEFI Firmware Settings' to open the BIOS

Let us know if this works.

The quickest way to get to to the BIOS is to use rich912 method. It is the easiest to remember.
