Sony KD-49x8305C - Green screen crash

Lately my Sony KD-49x8305C is having more often a green screen crash.

 

The crash happens randomly without any prior warning.

 

During the crash the screen will freeze up as seen in the attached pictures. It will sometimes flash and after that just power itself off. the indicator light under the TV sometimes has a rhythm in red flashing lights and sometimes totally nothing. 

Is there anybody that can help me with this issue? I heard it might be a power supply issue. But before I am replacing that, I would like to make sure if it’s the case.

 

It started to occur few months after purchase. Due to crazy long repair times (2016) (2 months, sometimes longer) without replacement of the TV during this time I skipped out of the warranty procedure. Later on after the warranty ended, Sony wanted to take my TV finally for repair (2019) (1-2 weeks) but for a big bill of 471€.

Hi,

 

If this issue happens after some time then it could be related to a thermal issue.

Hard to say what causes this issue. But most likely it's something with signal processing.

Thanks Peter for the quick reply! 
Any suggestions what I can do? Weirdly enough, while watching TV it barely does it and while the Playstation is being used it happens pretty often.

You can double check that you have the latest software version installed on your TV.

 

You can also try disconnecting everything from the TV and the power, then try each device by itself.

Thanks for the message Joe!

I did all of that already. Even went as far as putting unreleased updates (auto update unreleased) on the TV. Sometimes it got worse, sometimes it got better. But it still kept occurring once in a while.


Tried disconnecting also, with changing different ports that I would use. None of it helped.

Maybe go for a reset to factory settings next?
