Internet connection - does the Sony UWA BR100 still work on an Internet-ready tv?

Internet connection - does the Sony UWA BR100 still work on an Internet-ready tv?

I recently inherited a 2011 KDL- 32CX523 TV, that says it’s Internet ready.  I have purchased a genuine Sony wifi dongle and followed the on-screen setup procedure both wirelessly and via an Ethernet cable.  In both cases the tv shows that it has connected to the internet, goes through the setup process without a hitch, but then when I go to the last step of refreshing Internet content, I get an error message saying that ‘configuration failed while connecting’ and a <2200> error code.  The tv is in a guest bedroom and still gives a great picture; I have no problem tuning it to digital tv and there’s no need to replace it.  I just can’t understand why I can’t connect to the internet. I have performed a factory reset of the tv.  The router is working fine, and I have tried the connection process 3 or 4 times, with the same result.    Any ideas gratefully received as I feel I must be missing something!

I don't think you can use internet on that model really.
If by a chance it got an HDMI port, you may install a fire-stick there, just don't get a high-quality one cause you won't be able to use it.

Yes, the problem is that even if you get it working, whether with the dongle or via an Ethernet cable to the router (something you could maybe try to see what results you get), what apps have you got on the TV that would still work 10 years down the line?

Probably none 😢

But a Firestick (or my preference, a Roku Express) plugged into any one of the four HDMI ports on this TV (see my sig)  will make it smarter, in Full HD, than any recent Sony Android TV, app for app, will do WiFi for itself without needing a dongle, and will cost you under £40 to make this massive upgrade.

Get the best Roku Express or Firestick you can that will do justice to the Full HD on this set though; and if you want to be futureproof, even consider a 4K version, which will work perfectly well in Full HD only on this set, but would transfer seamlessly to any 4K set you might replace this 32in set with in future.

My favourite bedtime reading is a Sony product manual…

Yea that might be also worth looking at. And I might look for reviews regarding the Roku express to see what it's offering, maybe I will upgrade soon :D.
