Apple Box vs KD-49XF90

Hi,

I have a 2018 Bravia KD-49XF90 and as it won't recognise IOS devices (for screen mirroring, playing Apple app content, etc), have plugged into it an Apple TV Box model 579C A1427, (which I think is 2nd or 3rd generation).

This was recommended to me by a number of sources as a good fix.  However, whilst I have a constant white light coming from the Apple Box, I have no apple app in my list of apps.  My other apps all work fine (You Tube, Netflix etc) but no sign of my apple subscription (which does show on my iMac in the same room).  I have disconnected and re-connected my router and all power leads a number of times.

The box is plugged into HDMI 1 and when I switch to HDMI input on the TV, all I get is some stock wildlife photos automatically scrolling up the screen (they stop if I take the HDMI lead out of the TV socket).

This is immensely frustrating and I wonder if anyone within the community had a solution before I take the lot down the river and float test it.

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Jazz

I believe the Apple TV box is similar to a BT/Virgin/Humax box, which can be operated with it's own remote, but doesn't add an app to the TV itself.

That said, if you're only able to see stock photos from the box, I'd call up Apple support to make sure it's working properly.

Hi Joe,

Apologies for the delay as I've been away but sincere thanks for taking the time to respond.  I'm back on the case and will give Apple Support a call in a moment, as you suggest.
