Sony 16-35mm f/2.8 GM lens hood

I have the above lens (16-35mm GM) the lens hood snaps and locks into place when it's reversed on the lens (I have to press the release button to remove it) but when I put it on the lens the correct way it won't lock, it sits loose and easily falls off the lens, I've checked the lens and there are no marks or bangs on the lens also the hood looks fine with no rounded corners or wear to the bayonet fixings.

I wanted to know if anyone had the same fault and if yes how did you fix it.

I've messaged Sony over a week ago but I still haven't had a reply!

This seems like a manufacturing fault, if you haven't had a reply from Sony yet, maybe try reaching to the store you bought it from.

I've contacted Sony again, I'll just wait a few more days to see if they reply.

Just make sure that the returns/replacement window for your store isn't expiring.
